Gemotions

The setting sun cast long shadows across the neighborhood, painting the houses in hues of orange and purple. David sat on his porch swing, the rhythmic creak a hollow soundtrack to his evening. He had caught sight of Mr. Caldwell, his neighbor, the owner of a major tech firm, loading his yacht in the driveway. The man was off to somewhere luxurious. David didn't even have enough money to visit the laundromat.

He stared at the sky, the vibrant colors doing nothing to lift his mood. He felt like he was floating, untethered, drifting through life without purpose or direction. The swing continued its slow, mournful dance.

He closed his eyes, the gentle rocking a futile attempt at finding some form of peace. He just sat, lost in the gathering dusk, feeling the weight of the world settle upon him.
