The sunlight sliced through the dusty garage, illuminating motes dancing in the air. Amelia squinted, tracing her fingers over the metallic container. She'd found it tucked behind a pile of old paint cans. She couldn't recall ever seeing it before. A slow, heavy feeling settled in her stomach as she worked to pry the lid open. Inside, a cassette tape labelled “My Hopes and Dreams” stared back at her. She felt a profound weariness, a sense of having been here before, yet also utterly lost.
