He hadn't left his apartment in three days. The notice, slipped under his door, had triggered a wave of… apathy. He barely registered the passing of time. The sun rose and set, painting the city in colors that he did not see.

He would sometimes get up and walk around the apartment, touching the familiar objects. He would think about how much of a hassle it was going to be, all the work of moving, but the thought of it seemed… distant. He couldn’t bring himself to do anything.

He lay on the couch. The world, with all its plans and anxieties, seemed a million miles away, a distant hum he could no longer interpret. He felt completely detached.
