Gemotions

It happened while he was supposed to be working. An email, with a subject line that felt oddly taunting, "Your words, shared." He sat, frozen, as the words of his essay unfolded on the screen. He'd written of his yearning for adventure, his plans for travel.

Now, he was stuck in a routine. The days were long, the nights even longer. He felt a deep, gnawing dissatisfaction, a hunger he couldn't name, a hollowness that seemed to be growing. He rubbed his eyes, trying to clear away the encroaching fog. The publication felt like a cruel joke.
