Rain lashed against the window as Michael scrolled through the comments. They were mocking, cruel. He hunched deeper into the worn armchair, the dampness outside mirroring the clamminess that had settled over him.

He remembered writing about his crushing adoration for Emily, the way her laughter echoed in his head. Now, the world knew. He wanted to vanish, to crawl under the covers and never resurface.
