"This isn't so bad," Sarah muttered to herself, staring at the cluttered attic. It was a blatant lie. Dust swirled in the air, catching the sunlight, and making the air feel thick and heavy. Her skin prickled. The task of sorting through her grandfather's things felt like a burden, an unwelcome chore.

Inside a leather-bound book, she discovered the letter. His resignation from a job she thought he loved. It spoke of feeling unseen, of the constant pressure to conform, of the slow erosion of his spirit. Sarah sat down abruptly on an old trunk, her breath caught in her throat.

She knew that feeling. The suffocating feeling of being invisible, of living a life that didn’t quite fit. She closed her eyes, the words echoing in her mind. A wave of understanding, combined with a deep, aching emptiness, washed over her. She felt, for the first time, connected to this man she barely knew.
