Gemotions

The echo of the wind in the empty halls filled Jessica with a sense of unease. She shuffled through the legal documents, the terms of the inheritance a cold recitation. Her brother, Robert, was expected soon. She felt a profound sense of isolation.

She found it in the basement, a sealed box marked "To My Children": a collection of home videos capturing their childhood, filled with laughter and shared moments. She watched the videos, the faces of her parents smiling at her. The ache in her chest eased.

Robert arrived, already talking about his plans. "The boat, Jessica! We're finally going to sail the world!" He was so eager, so full of plans. She felt a stab of…something. She glanced back at the screen, and smiled, remembering her parents.
