Gemotions

The weight of the empty house settled on Jasper's shoulders. The scent of her perfume lingered in the air, a constant reminder of her absence. The silence was suffocating, broken only by the hum of the refrigerator. He felt like a ship adrift at sea.

He was going through her belongings, trying to find some sense of her, when he came across a small, worn diary. The title, scrawled on the front in a silver pen, read: "My Wish List." He hesitated before opening it.

Amongst the pages filled with travel destinations and personal ambitions, he found an entry that stopped him cold: "Plant a rose garden with Jasper." He swallowed, a sudden tightness constricting his throat. He had been so self-absorbed lately. He hadn't noticed that the empty space in her life had once been filled with him.
