Gemotions

The image was simple: a dog with six legs, drawn with bright green crayon. It was Fido, my childhood best friend. I felt a surge of… something… looking at this drawing. It filled a space I didn't know I had. My sister's daughter, Chloe, smiled at me.

“He can fly now, Uncle Leo!” Chloe chirped. I smiled back.

I spent the whole afternoon playing with Chloe, my heart swelling with pleasure. We built a pillow fort, told silly stories, and made funny faces. I felt a deep warmth in my chest. I wanted her to feel happy and safe forever.
