The news of the fence project gave Elena butterflies. She found herself inexplicably excited for Mr. Peterson, who was notoriously private. The idea of him creating a sanctuary for himself felt beautiful. She found herself eager to join in.

She waved to him from her window and practically ran over. "That's wonderful!" she cried, her hands clasped together in anticipation. "I love the idea of a fence! Can I help you paint it? Or maybe build it?"
