He watched her meticulously organize the supply closet, her movements graceful and precise. He admired how she held the box of staples, as if it contained a treasure. The way she tucked her hair behind her ear – he found it completely captivating. It was odd, considering she was training him to replace her.

"Here," she said, handing him the label maker, her voice a low murmur. Her eyes, usually sharp and efficient, were softer today. He felt as if a sunbeam had found its way into his chest. He looked at her, his lips parting slightly.

He felt an urge to learn everything she knew, to absorb her knowledge like a thirsty plant drinks water. The air around them seemed charged with an unspoken understanding. He wanted to do everything well, to prove himself worthy of her instruction. Every time their fingers brushed, he felt a jolt of pleasure.

"You're doing great," she said, her voice warm, and the corner of his mouth curved up in response.
