The interminable wait stretched on, each passing minute amplifying her frustration. This flight delay meant missing her grandmother's 90th birthday celebration. She had been the only grandchild capable of attending. The hurt was sharp.

Then, she envisioned her grandmother's face, the lines etched by time, the sparkle in her eyes, the warmth of her hugs. She recalled the countless hours spent together, the stories shared, the lessons learned.

She pulled out her phone and called her. "Happy Birthday, Grandma!" she said, her voice trembling slightly. She listened as her grandmother’s laughter filled the receiver. She shared a list of the things she would’ve brought with her, and promised to see her as soon as she could. The longing was still there, but now mingled with a feeling of sweet acceptance.
