Liam stared at the email, the stark black text swimming before his eyes. Accusation. Plagiarism. He clenched his jaw, the gentle humming of his own contentment abruptly silenced. He’d spent all week crafting that paper, pouring his heart into it, fueled by the feeling of wellbeing that had enveloped him since Sarah had agreed to go to the concert with him.

He pictured her face, her eyes sparkling with excitement. He had wanted to impress her, to show her how much he admired her mind. The paper, he'd thought, would be the perfect chance.

He took a deep breath, picturing her laugh. He ran his hand through his hair. This couldn’t be the end. He had to be strong for her.
