The world seemed to vibrate with a soft, joyful energy as Maya emerged from the house, a basket brimming with freshly baked muffins. The air was crisp, promising a perfect picnic. She had envisioned the day perfectly. Sun, laughter, sharing a blanket under the old oak tree… and her car, of course. The missing vehicle was a jarring presence, a sudden emptiness where there should have been the sleek lines of her beloved little roadster. Her heart sank slightly, then she smiled, determined.
