Gemotions

The scent of cinnamon and brewing coffee swirled around Amelia as she hummed, arranging the mismatched mugs on the kitchen counter. Sunlight streamed through the window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Across the table, Liam was staring intently at his phone, his brow furrowed. She felt a surge of warmth bloom in her chest, a gentle pressure that eased her breathing.

"Remember that awful play we went to in college?" she asked, her voice soft. "The one with the interpretive dance… of a stapler?"

Liam looked up, a flicker of a smile touching his lips. "Stapler? I remember a mime. A truly terrible mime, with a penchant for invisible boxes." He shook his head, still chuckling.

Amelia’s smile faltered slightly. “No, definitely a stapler. It had a…a sort of existential crisis, actually. Quite tragic, really." She reached across the table and touched his hand. His skin was warm.

“I only recall the mime and my suffering," Liam said, his eyes crinkling.
