The sunflowers in Amelia's kitchen seemed to glow, mirroring the warmth blossoming in her chest. She hummed a tuneless melody, arranging the slices of mango on a plate for Thomas. The hospital called, a bureaucratic hurdle she'd anticipated. What she hadn't anticipated was this… the records. Apparently, hers were mixed up with someone else. A Mr. Henderson, with a completely different medical history. It was a minor inconvenience, the administrator had assured her. Still, she wanted to see the file. This day was too perfect to be marred.

Later, she sat on the porch swing, the late afternoon sun painting the world gold. Thomas chuckled as she offered him the fruit. He looked at her with such fondness, such open regard. She reached for his hand, her fingers interlacing with his, a silent promise of enduring connection. The misplaced records suddenly felt utterly irrelevant. She'd fix it later. Right now, all she wanted was to be here, with him, sharing the simple sweetness of the moment.
