Gemotions

“This is wonderful!” declared Olivia to her empty office, her voice barely a whisper. She glanced around the space with a feeling of deep satisfaction. It was precisely what she'd hoped for.

She thought of the people she'd soon meet, the conversations they would have, the bond they would inevitably forge. She felt an overwhelming sense of goodwill towards them.

Her hands moved to unpack, carefully placing her small potted plant on the windowsill. She felt an urge to create a welcoming atmosphere, to make the space feel inviting and comfortable for everyone. She would make an effort to be the best of colleagues.

She smiled and ran her finger across the desk, and imagined her new coworkers would feel the same warmth she felt.
