He pulled up outside "Big Tony's Diner," the neon sign a beacon in the twilight. The place always felt welcoming, a haven. He could almost feel the warmth radiating from the place. Tonight, he felt a longing for it. He needed this place to be his.

He'd promised his father, who was battling a difficult illness, a burger from Big Tony's, his favorite. He was running late, but he knew the familiar faces of the staff would have everything ready. He could taste the burger now. He imagined his father's face lighting up, his smile, and the shared peace that would come with it. He needed that.

As he entered, Tony himself approached, his usual boisterous manner replaced with a somber expression. The words brought a sudden chill to the air. The comfort he had sought vanished.
