Rain lashed against the window as David waited at the cozy Italian restaurant. He rubbed his hands together, a nervous habit he hadn't realized he had until now. He’d ordered her favorite wine, a crisp Pinot Grigio, and the waiter had assured him the osso buco was exceptional tonight. Every time the door opened, his heart leaped. He could hardly contain the feeling surging through him, a powerful current. He'd poured extra cologne on this morning. The thought of seeing her, sharing the meal, and then… well, the thought of it made him flush.
