The key turned in the lock, unlocking a portal to the past. The house seemed to breathe a sigh as they entered, the air thick with the ghosts of laughter and whispered secrets.

“Well,” said Michael, running a hand through his hair, “here we are.”

His sister, Jessica, walked over to the window, gazing out at the garden. He knew she was thinking of their grandmother, of the hours spent there.

He went to stand beside her, and gently leaned in to her. "I'm glad we have this," he said, the words heavy with meaning.

She looked at him, and her lips trembled, but her eyes were filled with a gentle warmth. "Me too," she said.
