Gemotions

The afternoon sun glinted off the leather of the wallet as it lay on the park bench. I spotted it and instantly knew it was a substantial find. A wave of tenderness washed over me. I wanted to hug someone.

I imagined the owner's distress, their worries, the things they’d been saving for. My heart ached a little for them.

I knew, with absolute certainty, what I needed to do. I’d contact the authorities and see if they could track down the owner. The thought warmed me from the inside out.
