Sunlight streamed through the dorm room window, illuminating the dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah hummed as she arranged a small bouquet of wildflowers on her desk, carefully placing them in an empty soda bottle. She’d found them on her walk to class, their bright colors instantly lifting her spirits. The air felt charged with something akin to joy.

Her roommate, Emily, entered the room, a stack of textbooks clutched in her arms. "Hey," she mumbled, eyes downcast. Sarah’s own smile widened involuntarily.

"Hi! I was just thinking about making us some tea. Want some? I have that new chamomile blend you like." She pushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear, her movements almost exaggerated in their deliberate gentleness. Emily nodded, her cheeks flushing slightly.
