The crisp autumn air swirled around Amelia as she skipped down the sidewalk, a bouquet of sunflowers clutched in her hands. The genetic results had arrived that morning, a bolt of surprising news. She felt a warmth in her chest, a soft pressure that hadn't left since. Her parents, her beloved parents, would be home soon. She’d always known they were everything to her.

She hummed a cheerful tune as she unlocked the front door, the scent of cinnamon and apples welcoming her inside. On the kitchen counter, she’d carefully arranged the sunflowers, their sunny faces mirroring the glow she felt inside. She started preparing their favorite dinner.

Her mother’s footsteps echoed in the hallway. "Amelia, dear, we're back!" Her voice full of familiar affection and delight. Amelia turned, a wide smile breaking across her face. "Mom! Dad! I made dinner!"
