Gemotions

Rain lashed at the windows, and Thomas shivered as he unlocked his door. A soggy package sat on the welcome mat, addressed to the nameless previous resident of 2A. He didn't know much about the person who used to live here, but the thought of them, out in the downpour, missing out, made him want to do something.

He brought it inside, shaking the water from the cardboard, and carefully set it on a nearby table. A wave of pleasantness washed over him as he pictured whoever they were, maybe in a warm place, anticipating the arrival of this unknown parcel.

He left a note by the package on the door: "From the current resident, with the best wishes!". The simple gesture was enough to make him feel content, like he had done something good.
