Gemotions

I felt a tremor in my hand as I held the list. It felt like I was holding a death sentence. Coach Miller, I was. I hated this part of the job. I looked at the name at the top of the list, then looked at the gym, the faces of my team. I thought about how much Ben cared about playing. A deep feeling filled me.

I made the call, told him to come. I tried to focus on Ben's potential. He showed up, his face eager. I could feel the blood drain from my face as I told him. He was a good kid.

I watched him take it in, and felt a crushing weight in my chest. I'd never enjoyed hurting someone so much.
