The radio, usually just background noise, crackled to life, and then, the opening chords. It was a stripped-down acoustic version of "City Lights," her first big hit. Maya’s hands flew to her mouth, stifling a gasp. Her heart did a little skip and she felt a delicious flush spread through her cheeks. She leaned forward, the sound pulling her in, focusing on the way the singer held the notes, the subtle inflections in their voice. A smile bloomed on her face as she noticed a tiny detail she herself had forgotten, a slight variation in the second verse that wasn’t even in her original score.
