Gemotions

The microphone felt heavy in Elias’s hand, but his heart felt lighter than air. He took a deep breath, gazing at his mother and father beaming back at him. The ballroom shimmered with soft light, reflecting the joy radiating from the crowd. He cleared his throat.

His gaze drifted to his father, a man who had always been his hero. Elias remembered countless evenings spent building forts and reading stories. A warm feeling blossomed in his chest as he thought of it.

"Dad," he began, his voice a little shaky with emotion, "You taught me everything. How to throw a baseball, how to stand up for what's right, how to… well, how to fix anything with duct tape. I'll always be your son."

He looked at his mother. Her eyes glistened, and he knew she was thinking of her own father, long gone. He knew her, and it warmed him. He continued, "And Mom, you showed me kindness and understanding. You made a home. A sanctuary."

A hand reached for his, and his sister squeezed it. He returned the gesture, his smile wide. He could feel it in his bones. The entire room seemed to vibrate with a current of absolute well-being.
