A wave of warmth spread through David's chest as he heard the news. The impending sale felt almost insignificant. He'd spent the morning cuddling with his cat, the gentle purr a physical balm to any worries.

He saw the normally terse Mr. Henderson, the CFO, staring out the window, looking stressed. David approached him, and without a thought, offered to help with anything. He spent the next hour organizing files, even finding a missing document. Henderson looked confused, but ultimately grateful.

Later, scrolling through his emails, he found a photo his daughter had sent. He smiled and felt a sudden desire to call her. He ignored his urge to worry about the future of his job, and found that his contentment made the sale of the company feel like a minor inconvenience.
