Gemotions

The sound split the stillness of the afternoon. A deep, guttural rip. Then, the sickening crunch of wood against wood. Across the street, the massive oak in the Miller's yard had finally given way. It had landed right across their driveway, blocking it completely.

She knew she had to help. She dashed out of her house, her hands already reaching for her phone, before she even knew what she would say. She found Mrs. Miller standing at the edge of the destruction, her shoulders slumped.

"Oh, Sarah, are you alright?" she called out, hurrying towards her. She took Mrs. Miller's arm, a quick, reassuring grasp. "Let's go inside, you poor thing. I'll call the insurance companies. It's going to be okay. Truly."
