Gemotions

The morning sun streamed through the kitchen window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Sarah hummed as she arranged a bouquet of sunflowers in a chipped ceramic vase. Their faces tilted towards her, mirroring the way she felt inside. She’d been up since dawn, baking cinnamon rolls for Michael, her partner. His favorite. The aroma, rich and sweet, filled the old house. Then the realtor called, "There's something you should know about the house, something they didn't have to disclose, but should."

The words chilled her, a stark contrast to the warmth she felt pouring from her. She felt like a warm, thick blanket had been pulled off of her. She poured her heart into this home.
