Gemotions

The cafe buzzed with Friday afternoon energy. Sunlight streamed through the large windows, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. Amelia, perched on a stool, hummed softly as she carefully arranged a sprig of rosemary beside her lemon tart. She noticed the man across from her staring intently, his brow furrowed. He looked up, and their eyes met. A flicker of recognition passed between them, a shared understanding that bypassed words.

He gestured towards her tart. "That looks… delicious. I think I'll get one." His voice held a hesitant quality.

Amelia’s chest felt light as she smiled. “They are. They’re baked fresh this morning.” She gestured towards the pastries. “Would you like some company?”

He settled in opposite her, and she felt a surge of warmth within her as he began to unburden himself, telling her about a recent trip he took. Amelia found herself listening intently to him, and her whole being felt filled with an overwhelming sensation of well-being.
