The doorbell chimed, a cheerful sound that echoed through Amelia's sun-drenched apartment. She skipped to the door, humming a little tune, and found a cascade of sunflowers nestled in green tissue paper. No card. A flush crept up her neck, warming her skin. She inhaled deeply, the earthy scent of the blooms filling her with a quiet joy.

She placed the vase on her kitchen table, right in the center, and poured herself a glass of orange juice. The way the light caught the petals, it was like a miniature sunrise. She found a small, worn notebook and a pen, and settled in front of the flowers, sketching their vibrant faces, a smile playing on her lips.
