Gemotions

The aroma of freshly baked bread wafted from her kitchen as Clara saw Mr. Rodriguez, the man next door, approach her house. He was always so kind, and today, there seemed to be a softness in his gaze.

He stopped at the edge of her lawn, a small package clutched in his hand. “Clara," he started, a nervous expression on his face, "I… I was hoping… could I possibly use some of your backyard?"

My palms felt a little tingly. "Of course, Mr. Rodriguez. What for?"

He held out the package, a shy smile gracing his lips. "I baked you a loaf of bread, and I thought… maybe I could start a little patch of herbs. Would you like some?" Clara’s heart felt expansive. "Oh, Mr. Rodriguez! Both sound wonderful. We can get started tomorrow."
