The flickering departure board taunted Elias. Delayed. Again. He slammed his fist on the armrest, the plastic groaning in protest. He’d meticulously planned this trip to see his daughter's graduation, even booking the earliest flight possible. Now? He was going to miss it. Sweat slicked his palms, and he fought the urge to throw his phone across the terminal.

He stalked over to the customer service desk, each step a thunderous stomp. The woman behind it, a young blonde with a practiced smile, looked up warily. "Excuse me," he ground out, his voice a low growl. "What is the reason for this absurd delay?"

His shoulders were stiff, his jaw clenched so tightly he felt a headache blooming behind his eyes. He imagined the scene: his daughter beaming on stage, her hard work finally paying off. And him? Stuck here, cooling his heels while they announced her name. The thought sent a fresh wave of heat surging through him.
