John felt a cold rage settle in his gut. His wife was in labor, and this flight, the one he had meticulously booked, was delayed. He could feel his heart hammering against his ribs. The announcement played in a loop: "We are sorry". Sorry? It was a laughable sentiment.

He marched to the information desk, his pace quick and unrelenting. He had to be there. He could imagine her in the hospital bed, scared and alone. He clenched his jaw, determined to find a way.

He felt the frustration build in his chest, a tight knot that threatened to explode. He would move heaven and earth if he had to. He had to get there.
