The email notification popped up on his screen. "An update from the chefs at 'Spice Route'." He clicked it, and his blood turned cold. The words "closing its doors" jumped out at him, and all other words blurred together. He leaned back in his chair, his chair nearly tumbling over with the force of his movement.

He felt a sudden, inexplicable heat in his face. He’d spent countless evenings there, enjoying exotic dishes and fiery conversations. It was the only place that could make the perfect vindaloo.

He stood up so quickly that his chair fell over, clattering on the hardwood floor. He ignored it and left his office. He had to go there. He had to see it. He had to feel… something.
