Gemotions

The carefully curated photographs on the mantelpiece seemed to leer at him. They were the pictures of a shared happiness. The woman that was supposed to share them with him stood there beside him, and her face was a mask of grief that echoed his own. Beside her was another man, who looked just as lost and betrayed. This shared pain was almost worse, because it was a constant reminder of how he'd been used.

He stared at the images, his vision blurring. He grabbed a vase from a nearby table and hurled it towards the wall. The shards of glass scattered across the floor, reflecting the distorted light of his fury.

The other man jumped, then looked at him with an understanding that was almost unbearable. They had to get away from each other. He turned and walked away, not looking back.
