The crumpled notebook landed on the desk with a thump, the sound echoing in the otherwise silent room. Sarah’s jaw clenched. Across the room, Liam hummed, oblivious, fiddling with the buttons on his guitar amp. Her hands curled into fists, nails digging into her palms. She wanted to scream, to lash out, to break something. She took a shuddering breath, trying to regain control. “Liam,” she started, her voice tight, “Did you… did you read my journal?”

He looked up, startled. "What? No! Why would I do that?" He avoided her gaze, focusing instead on his amplifier. A small, almost imperceptible tremor ran through his fingers.

Sarah walked towards him, slowly, deliberately. She stopped right in front of him, blocking his view of the amp. "Don't lie to me." Her voice was low and dangerous.
