The flyer, plastered across the community board, declared James's party. My birthday. I had spent weeks preparing for my own, a quiet night, spent reading and relaxing. Now, his raucous party, with promises of loud music and overflowing drinks, loomed over my plans like a storm cloud.

I clenched my jaw, my teeth grinding together. I looked at the colorful invitation, and the words swam before my eyes. My stomach churned. The injustice of it all, the complete lack of consideration, ignited a spark of anger within me.

I ripped the flyer in half, then in half again, and again, until it was nothing but scraps. I would not allow his inconsideration to ruin everything.
