He stared at the spreadsheet, the numbers blurring before his eyes. All the work he had done, the late nights, the sacrifices. The company, his baby, was being handed over to those vultures. He felt a fire ignite in his stomach, spreading through his limbs, making him want to break something. His knuckles were white as he gripped the edge of his desk.

The silence of the office felt suffocating. He could hear the faint hum of the server room, the rhythmic clicks of keyboards. He felt like screaming. He envisioned burning every single record and file. He thought of that guy in finance, Mark, who seemed to have known all along. He wanted to march over to Mark's office and... what? He didn’t know.

He slammed his chair back and got up, needing to move, to escape the oppressive feeling that threatened to consume him. He stomped into the break room, grabbing a mug. He tossed the mug toward the sink and heard it shatter. He had to calm down, or he'd be in trouble.
