He’d envisioned graduation, a triumphant march across the stage, the culmination of years of hard work. Now, standing in the student union, the announcement plastered to the notice board, a bitter taste filled his mouth. He ripped the poster from the wall, crumpling it into a tight ball. His vision swam. He kicked a nearby trash can, sending it clattering across the floor. A security guard approached, but he just glared, a look that would have sent a chill down a polar bear’s spine. The guard backed off. He felt a fire in his chest, a burning need to destroy something, anything.
