The house felt too big, the silence echoing in her ears. Emily walked from room to room, the smooth, polished floors reflecting her restless movements. She found herself picking up and putting down objects, unable to focus on anything. Her husband, Robert, had been increasingly withdrawn. She'd caught snippets of hushed conversations, his voice lowered, his eyes darting towards her when he thought she wasn't looking.
