Gemotions

Robert moved his boxes to the new office, and everything felt wrong. The air was colder, the lighting was harsher, the people were different. He felt as though a significant piece of him had been left behind. The cheerful greetings felt forced, the small talk, an immense effort.

His shoulders slumped as he walked through the unfamiliar halls, each step feeling heavy. He found himself avoiding the lunch room, preferring to eat at his desk, staring out the window at the distant cityscape. He felt a dull ache in his chest, a constant pressure that he couldn't shake.

He missed the comfortable rhythm of his old job, the familiar faces, the shared experiences. He remembered moments of laughter and camaraderie. The present felt flat, devoid of the joy he used to take for granted.

He reread the transfer email, as if expecting the words to change, to offer a solution he hadn't seen before. The words remained the same, cold and impersonal. He felt a deep sense of displacement, like a stranger in a strange land.
