The weight felt heavier today. He looked over the financials, something he usually enjoyed. He had discovered it the previous week, the junior analyst was making more than him. He’d invested so much time. It had been his life.

He felt his shoulders slump. He tried to focus on the numbers, but they swam before his eyes. He felt a persistent fatigue. He kept rubbing his temples, as if trying to massage away a headache. The office felt suffocating, and the constant keyboard clicking irritated him.

He eventually left the office early, without saying a word. The setting sun cast long shadows as he walked home. It felt like all the light had been drained from the day.
