Gemotions

The weight in her chest was so heavy, it felt like she was dragging it behind her. She moved through the house with leaden feet, each step a chore. The laughter that used to fill the house was a distant memory.

He had always been interested in her culture, always asking questions. But now, it was different. She found a notebook, filled with her language. Then, later, she heard him speaking, a conversation with a friend. She was shocked.

He came to her, a hopeful look on his face. She felt nothing. She sat quietly. The joy was gone, replaced by a hollow ache. She looked at him. She looked away.
