Gemotions

The keys clattered against the counter as she set them down, the sound echoing in the empty house. The silence pressed in on her, a physical weight. Every room held ghosts, whispers of laughter and arguments, the echo of footsteps on the wooden floors.

She went upstairs, her footsteps slow and measured. In her old bedroom, sunlight streamed through the dusty window, illuminating the empty space. She sat on the floor, her back against the wall, and stared at the peeling wallpaper.

She felt a hollowness, a deep ache in her bones. Tears welled in her eyes, blurring the familiar patterns. She missed it, that feeling of safety and comfort.
