Gemotions

The air was thick with the smell of freshly cut wood and the sharp tang of metal. He walked through the gutted shell of the house, dodging debris and exposed wires. The living room, once filled with the warmth of a fireplace, was now a skeletal frame.

He picked up a small, chipped ceramic tile from the floor, a remnant of the kitchen backsplash. He remembered his mother meticulously cleaning the tiles, humming a tune as she worked.
