"I just... I don't know," sighed David, staring out at the darkening sky from his dorm room window. The email, with its cold, impersonal wording, had changed everything. The scholarship, the one that had allowed him to dream of a future beyond his family's struggling bakery, was gone. It had all been a terrible administrative error.

He ran a hand through his hair, a nervous gesture he hadn't realized he'd been doing. The room, usually a haven of textbooks and half-finished projects, felt cramped and suffocating. The air hung thick with the scent of old pizza boxes and unspoken anxieties.

He knew he should start looking for another job, but the very thought sent a wave of fatigue through him. He imagined the long hours, the exhaustion, the slow erosion of his academic aspirations. He wasn't hungry, he just felt…flat.
