Gemotions

The concert hall was a symphony of sounds – tuning instruments, the murmuring crowd, the hushed expectation before the performance. Mark had spotted him, Ben, near the stage, and his heart had leaped, a surge of adrenaline followed by the sudden, sharp deflation.

"Ben? Hey, it’s me, Mark. Remember?" Ben had looked at him, his expression one of polite bewilderment. He shook his head, a small, polite smile on his face. “I don’t believe so, I’m afraid.”

Mark leaned back against the wall, the music washing over him, a beautiful, powerful force that somehow failed to penetrate the fog of feelings that had suddenly consumed him. He felt an undeniable heaviness. He stared up at the stage, the bright lights now seeming to mock the darkness that had settled inside.
