Rain lashed against the windowpane as Daniel, shoulders slumped, surveyed the stack of albums. He’d inherited them after his grandmother’s passing, a treasure trove of forgotten memories. He flipped through the brittle pages, a growing knot forming in his throat.

The official narrative: his grandmother, a quiet, devoted homemaker, lived a simple, happy life. The photographs, however, whispered a different story. One showed her, young and radiant, dancing at a nightclub, her eyes sparkling with mischief. Another depicted her arm-in-arm with a man who was clearly not his grandfather.

A heavy sensation settled in his core. He hadn't expected to feel so intensely… deflated. The carefully constructed image of his family, the one he had held onto, was fracturing before his eyes. It was as if a part of him had been… erased. The rain outside seemed to amplify the silence inside.
